My name is Roslyn Steer and I am a PhD student in the Department of Music, NUI Maynooth and also a person.
I am kindly funded by the Irish Research Council
This blog is all about my thesis topic: screaming.
Specifically, I am researching "Music and the Aesthetics of the Scream in the New Viennese School" and this blog will document my research as it progresses, making articles and papers available as I complete them.
I will also post any interesting ideas, images, quotes, videos, audio etc. that I come across as I go, even if it falls outside the scope of my doctoral thesis.
The main feed of the blog is intentionally non-discursive, at most combining materials (e.g an image and a quote) to see what they might say about each other. The purpose of this part of the blog is to spark interest and imagination, giving snapshots of what I am encountering rather than any detailed explanation.
